Third sector organisations across Neath Port Talbot can apply for a share of £575,000 after the council approved a revised Third Sector Grant Scheme.
The application process opened on Thursday 24 September 2026. Successful organisations will begin receiving funding from 1 April 2027. Awards will cover an initial three years, with the potential for an extension of up to two further years subject to satisfactory performance and compliance. The maximum award for each organisation is £50,000 per year.
The scheme will support organisations whose work aligns with one or more of three priorities: building strong and sustainable community organisations; reducing inequality and supporting vulnerable people, including older adults, unpaid carers, disabled people, children, families and people experiencing poverty or financial hardship; and improving health, well-being and prevention to help people stay well, maintain social connections and avoid crisis.
The revised scheme follows an independent review and engagement with third sector organisations and wider stakeholders.

Applications are in two stages. Organisations first submit an Expression of Interest with a short overview of their organisation, their work and the need they address. Those meeting eligibility requirements and selected to progress will be invited to submit a full application.
Key dates are: Expression of Interest opens 24 September 2026 and closes 15 October 2026; full application stage opens by invitation on 23 October 2026 and closes 20 November 2026; grant decisions communicated by 31 December 2026; funding starts 1 April 2027.
