Construction has started on a new Carmarthenshire County Council housing development on Cilycwm Road, Llandovery.

The scheme forms part of the council’s programme to increase the supply of council homes to help meet identified housing needs across the county. Once completed, it will provide new council homes for rent for individuals and families in the area, allocated in line with a Local Lettings Policy. The council said the homes will be modern and energy-efficient.

The new council homes should be available from late summer or autumn 2027.

Residents interested in the homes are being encouraged to register on the Carmarthenshire housing register, which is required to apply for affordable housing in the county.

Cabinet Member for Homes Emlyn Schiavone said: “It’s great to see work now underway on this new Council housing development in Llandovery. These much-needed homes will help meet local housing demand, provide high-quality and energy-efficient accommodation, and support the growth of sustainable communities in the area. I would encourage anyone interested in accessing these homes to ensure they are registered on the housing register.”

Llandovery County Councillor Handel Davies said: “It’s good to get this project now underway and I am delighted Carmarthenshire County Council is building new houses in Llandovery”.
