Flotek Group has announced the acquisition of Comvista Networks, a specialist telecommunications and network infrastructure provider based in Glenrothes, Fife.

The acquisition strengthens Flotek’s network infrastructure and communications capabilities while expanding its presence across Scotland and the north of the UK.

Established in 2008, Comvista Networks provides network infrastructure, structured cabling, optical fibre, connectivity and communications services to organisations across Scotland and the wider UK.

The business has developed particular expertise in the design, build, installation, testing and commissioning of internal and external network infrastructure. Its experience spans SME communications provision alongside larger and more complex projects for commercial organisations, public-sector bodies and local government, including work supporting Fife Council.

Comvista has also worked across demanding environments including multi-site developments, offshore installations, water management facilities, care settings and construction projects.

The acquisition builds on an established relationship between the two businesses. Comvista has worked as a trusted contractor to Flotek for a number of years, supporting the delivery of infrastructure and cabling projects for Flotek partners across Scotland and the north of the UK.

Bringing the businesses together gives Flotek greater direct access to specialist network infrastructure expertise while strengthening its ability to manage technology projects from the physical cabling and connectivity layer through to Managed IT, Cyber Security and Communications.

Jay Ball, CEO of Flotek Group, said:

“Comvista is a business we already know and trust. We’ve worked with Neill and the team on projects in the north for a fair while, so we’ve seen first-hand the knowledge, experience and quality they bring to technically demanding infrastructure work.

“Technology Together means bringing every part of a partner’s technology environment into one joined-up service. That begins with the physical infrastructure everything else relies on, from structured cabling and optical fibre to connectivity and site commissioning.

“Comvista adds significant credibility and specialist capability in these areas, while also strengthening our communications presence among SMEs. It gives us an even stronger foundation from which to support partners across Scotland and the wider UK.”

Comvista Networks Director Neill Ferguson began his telecommunications career as an engineer with BT and has more than 40 years of industry experience across engineering, maintenance, project management, service provision and sales.

    Neill Ferguson said:

“I have known and worked with Flotek for some time, and our businesses share a practical approach to looking after customers and delivering projects properly.

“Comvista has built its reputation through experience, technical knowledge and a willingness to take responsibility for every stage of a project. Becoming part of Flotek creates an opportunity to bring that expertise into a wider technology group and offer customers an even broader range of joined-up services.

“I’m proud of what Comvista has achieved and pleased to see its experience and relationships become part of Flotek’s continued growth.”

The acquisition supports Flotek’s strategy of bringing Managed IT, Cyber Security, Communications and supporting infrastructure together under one Managed Technology Partner.

    Jay added:

“As businesses rely on more cloud services, connected devices and communications platforms, the infrastructure beneath them becomes increasingly important. A technology solution can only perform as well as the network it runs on.

“Comvista strengthens our ability to take responsibility for the whole environment, creating a clearer and simpler experience for partners wherever they are based.”
