Travelodge has received over 500 applications for 25 positions it advertised, to help create a new team at its forthcoming hotel opening at Rhyl seafront – which is scheduled to open this spring.

Sophie Owen, Hotel Manager at Rhyl Seafront Travelodge was overwhelmed by the high calibre of candidates that applied and recruited her strong team of 25 team members in just one day. This includes six Receptionists, nine Bar Café team members and 10 housekeeping team members.

Travelodge is dedicated to helping unemployed parents return to work by offering flexible working hours; they can come to work, raise a family and climb the career ladder. Over half of the new team recruited for Rhyl Seafront Travelodge are parents.

Rhyl Seafront Travelodge is being managed by Sophie Owen.

Sophie is one of hundreds of Travelodge staff members who joined the company via an entry level position and has successfully climbed the career ladder into management. Sophie started at Travelodge in 2012 as a receptionist and within 24 months climbed the career ladder into management via Travelodge’s successful in-house development programme called Aspire. During the last few years Sophie has gained a wealth of management experience by working in a range of different size Travelodge hotels in the following locations: Scarborough, Chester, Lancaster and Caernarfon.

The new Rhyl Seafront Travelodge hotel team are currently undergoing comprehensive on-the-job training across Travelodge hotels in Wales, so that they can hit the ground running when their hotel opens this spring.

Sophie Owen, Hotel Manager, Rhyl Seafront Travelodge said:

“I am overwhelmed by the amazing response I have received for the 25 positions I advertised to help build a new team for our first hotel in Rhyl.

“I was looking for individuals who are passionate as me about delivering great customer service and I am delighted that I now have a great team of local people in place.

“Over half of my team are working parents, so by offering flexible working hours, they can come to work, raise a family and climb the career ladder. I started at Travelodge as a receptionist so I very excited to coach and develop my team members to become Travelodge managers of the future.”

Rhyl Seafront Travelodge, a 73 room hotel with an on-site restaurant called the Bar Café, represents a multi-million investment for the landlord and is the company’s first hotel in Rhyl.

The hotel has been designed in the company’s contemporary design and features family, double and accessible rooms.  The rooms feature the bespoke luxurious king-size Travelodge Dreamer bed, which offers bedside USB charging points, energy saving LED mood enhancing lighting, as well as an en-suite bathroom, power shower, comfort cooling, Freeview TV and free in-room tea & coffee making facilities.
