Visitors can enjoy free access to Cadw sites across Wales without charge this St David’s Day (1 March 2019).

To celebrate St David’s day and mark Visit Wales’ Year of Discovery, 16 Cadw sites, that normally charge for admission, will open their doors as part of the programme — including the spectacular St Davids Bishop’s Palace, located near the site Saint David himself founded his monastery.
From the exceptional Conwy Castle to the oldest surviving stone castle in Wales, Chepstow Castle, visitors can enjoy legendary days out.
Due to the limited capacity of the site, visitors to Castell Coch require advance booking. Free tickets can be reserved here.

Minister for Culture and Tourism, Lord Elis-Thomas, said: “Everyone can explore our rich history through our heritage sites in Wales as Cadw sites are free for everyone on the national day of our Patron Saint”.
“From historic buildings to iconic sites, Wales is a country full of fascinating heritage and legendary monuments and you can discover the stories that they have to share for free yourselves on St David’s Day. Everyone will be able to continue or begin their own legendary journey into our past to uncover the stories in our castles, abbeys and other historic sites.”
The following Cadw sites, which normally charge for admission, can be entered for free on Friday 1 March 2019: Beaumaris Castle, Caernarfon Castle, Caerphilly Castle, Carreg Cennen Castle, Castell Coch, Chepstow Castle, Conwy Castle, Criccieth Castle, Dolwyddelan Castle, Harlech Castle, Kidwelly Castle, Raglan Castle, St Davids Bishop’s Palace, Tintern Abbey, Tretower Court and Castle and Weobley Castle.
