Nationwide flood event comes to Wales

The National Flood Forum, together with Flood Re – the government-backed, not-for profit scheme that reduces the costs of home insurance for those in high flood-risk areas – are bringing their ‘Let’s Talk About Flooding’ campaign to Llandudno next week.

The campaign is intended to bring together people who have either been affected by flooding or are at risk of flooding to share experiences, learnings and voice any issues in the local area that are yet to be addressed.

The event, the first of the campaign to visit Wales, will be held at Conwy Business Centre in Llandudno on Tuesday 12 March 2019 between 11am and 3pm.

Previous events in Birmingham and Kent have been hugely successful. After Wales, the next event will take place in Lancaster on Saturday 16 March.

Given the recent flooding in and around Llandudno over the past year – and Llandudno being identified as North Wales’ “flooding hotspot” – this event is coming at the perfect time. It will be an opportunity for those in the local community to come together to discuss the measures that the insurance industry, government, community groups and individuals are taking to reduce the risk and to raise awareness around the issue.

Paul Cobbing, Chief Executive at the National Flood Forum, commented: “We look forward to bringing the next ‘Let’s Talk About Flooding’ event to Llandudno. The events so far in Birmingham and Kent have had great feedback from attendees, and it has been really interesting for us to share best practice and learn what is working well across the country. This event provides a chance for those working and living in and around Llandudno and North Wales to meet and share their flooding issues and concerns with each other and professional risk managers. The priorities that people identify will also be taken forward to a national conference for flood risk communities later this year.”
