House prices across Shropshire and mid Wales are up with Powys leading the way. This is good news for those looking to sell their property, according to local Estate Agents, Roger Parry & Partners.

According to the UK House Price Index prices in Powys are leading the way with a 7.5 per cent rise over the past year, closely followed by Telford with a 6.3 per cent increase. Shropshire’s average price have also risen by 2.8 per cent over the past 12 months.

Peter Daborn MRICS, Partner in Roger Parry & Partners Shrewsbury office said:

“This latest news on house price increases is just what potential sellers in the area we cover want to hear. It shows confidence in the current housing market, despite the expected effects of the uncertainty of Brexit.”

The latest data from the Office of National Statistics shows that the average property in Telford sold for £167,190. In Shropshire the average property sold for £212,168, while in Powys the average price was £191,940.

The average homeowner in Telford will have seen their property jump in value by around £32,000 in the last five years. In Shropshire the increase is £36,000 and in Powys it has been £33,000.
