The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) near Machynlleth hosted the launch event for the Living Wales Project on May 31.

Living Wales uses state of the art satellite technology to observe our planet and monitor the evolution of the Welsh landscape.

[aoa id=”1″]Opened by Professor Elizabeth Treasure, Aberystwyth University’s Vice-Chancellor, the event brought together representatives from CAT, Welsh Government, Natural Resources Wales, Aberystwyth Bangor Universities, AIRBUS and SER Cymru to experience the new earth observation facility and tourism display right in the heart of CAT’s eco centre.[/aoa]

John Challen, head of CAT’s Eco Centre, said: “Showcasing our events facilities to such a high profile audience while hosting the launch of this exciting new project has been a fantastic opportunity for us.

“We look forward to the continuation of our strong relationship with Aberystwyth University and can’t wait to start welcoming the public to the new exhibition to show off this new technology.’’

The exhibition will be opening to the public in the coming weeks and there will be lots of opportunity to get involved in collecting important data for monitoring our climate and to interact with the displays.
