    Top Wales attraction Zip World appoints new Operations Director

    Former Executive Director of Operations of Horizon Nuclear Power, Greg Evans, has been appointed as new Operations Director to strengthen the management team and take the business to the next level.

    Evans brings more than 39 years’ experience in the nuclear industry at the highest level to his new role at the fast-growing Welsh adventure tourism business.

    A former US Navy Petty Officer and Centrica Energy Director of Nuclear and Renewables, he is recognised as a thorough leader in safety leadership in both nuclear and renewable power generation.

    His work in renewables saw him leading major infrastructure project, including the design, development and commissioning phases of the £1.2 billion Lincs Wind Farm. In nuclear, he was responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Wylfa nuclear power station on Anglesey with 1,000 staff and contractors.

    He was also accountable for the safe delivery of the site decommissioning programme at Trawsfynydd in the heart of Snowdonia National Park with the programme delivered safely, on time and within budget.

    Zip World are continuing to lead the way when it comes to innovation, launching a brand new automated video feature all the way from Silicon Valley, Revl, this will further improve the consumer experience at the site.

    Greg Evans says: “Zip World is leading the way in terms of business development in North Wales and I’m thrilled to be joining the management team.

    “I’m excited at the prospect of helping to develop new and unique experiences in the adventure sector and continue to make the business thrive.

    “Having worked at Wylfa Power Station and the Trawsfyndd Decommissioning Site, I know the importance of investing in the economy in North Wales.

    “I feel honoured to be coming into the management team just as they take their extraordinary experiences to new sites across the UK as well as continuing to develop its existing sites in North Wales.”

    Zip World founding director Sean Taylor says: “It’s very humbling to welcome both Greg and Giles who are so highly regarded in their respective fields to our business in the Conwy Valley.

    “Greg’s experience will be crucial in taking the Zip World business to the next level as we expand beyond North Wales and having someone with that wealth of operational experience is vital. He is motivated by delivering results and regularly challenges the status quo to drive change and build operational excellence.
