Following a ground-breaking ceremony at Adventure Parc Snowdonia on Thursday 18 July 2019, construction is now officially underway for the Hilton Garden Inn Snowdonia – the first time the Hilton Garden Inn brand has been brought to Wales.

A ceremonial spade was dug into ground at the construction site by deputy minister for culture, sport and tourism, Lord Elis-Thomas, along with Adventure Parc Snowdonia’s chairman Martin Ainscough and managing director Andy Ainscough.

They were accompanied by Graham Dodd, managing director for Hilton in the UK & Ireland, along with Rob Smith and Mike Smith from HH Smith, the lead contractor for the build.

The 106-bedroom, four-storey hotel is likely to welcome its first guests in 2020 and promises unparalleled views across Adventure Parc Snowdonia’s world-first inland waves and the Conwy Valley’s mountains-and-forests landscapes.

The Hilton Garden Inn will be complemented by additional hospitality facilities at the adventure parc, including an indoor / outdoor wellbeing spa, corporate conference facilities for up to 260 delegates, and a destination dining lagoon-side restaurant.

    Landmark destination for North Wales

The Hilton Garden Inn is part of Adventure Parc Snowdonia’s transformational phase two evolution, which represents a total investment of £16 million.

‘Phase two’ includes the new indoor adventure facility Adrenaline Indoors – one of the biggest purpose-built indoor adventure destinations in the UK – due to launch on 1 August 2019.

Managing director for Adventure Parc Snowdonia, Andy Ainscough, said: “Our phase two evolution is all about building on what we’ve established since we launched in 2015: a flagship adventure and lifestyle destination for Wales, the UK and beyond. Hilton Garden Inn will only add to the quality of our visitor experience, we’re delighted to have them on board.”

The Hilton Garden Inn will create more than 90 new full-time hospitality roles at Adventure Parc Snowdonia, bringing the peak-season workforce to over 200. Over 80% of the adventure parc’s workforce lives within the Conwy Borough Council area.

Deputy minister for culture, sport and tourism, Lord Elis-Thomas, said: “Starting the construction of this new Hilton hotel is an exciting next stage in the development of Adventure Parc Snowdonia.  I am very pleased that the Welsh Government has been able to support the plans for this new hotel, which is a significant tourism project for the region and will be of further benefit for both the Conwy Valley and to Wales – especially as North Wales is fast becoming a destination of choice for visitors who are seeking adventure and unique experiences.”

Graham Dodd, managing director, development, UK & Ireland, Hilton said: “Hilton operates hotels at many of the UK’s leading sporting venues including Wembley Stadium, the Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground and Doncaster Racecourse. Adventure Parc Snowdonia is a one-of-a-kind experience and the opening of the Hilton Garden Inn hotel will help elevate the park’s offering and draw more visitors to the area.”

Adventure Parc Snowdonia – home to a world-first inland surf lagoon and a variety of indoor and outdoor adventures – made headlines around the globe when it opened in August 2015.

It has since established itself as one of Europe’s most innovative adventure destinations, hosting high profile events for global brands like Red Bull and O’Neill. Larry Page, co-founder of Google, and Nick Woodman, founder of Go Pro, were amongst the first surfers through its doors; Hollywood actors, Formula One racing drivers, Red Bull athletes and Olympic sports stars have all since been spotted on the lagoon’s man-made waves.

Adventure Parc Snowdonia has welcomed over 500,000 visitors since it opened in 2015. It expects in excess of 200,000 in the next 12 months.
