Entries for the widely anticipated Welsh Business Awards have opened, providing businesses across the country with the opportunity to compete for top place in one of the region’s most prestigious accolades.

A celebration of innovation, growth and success within Welsh industry, this glitzy award gala dinner is set to be held at City Hall on March 5th 2020.

The application process launches today and will close on December 6th, with the finalists set to be announced on January 27th.

Harri Lloyd-Davies, President of the South Wales Chambers of Commerce said: “The economic development of Wales relies heavily on businesses both big and small. The Awards are a positive way of acknowledging the relentless efforts of Welsh businesses and their talented employees.

“Our expectations continue to be surpassed every year with the calibre and diversity of applicants to the Welsh Business Awards and we look forward to seeing this year’s applicants as the event grows year on year.”

The University of South Wales are Headline Sponsors again this year. Dr Louise Bright, Director of Research & Business Engagement commented: “The University of South Wales is proud of its partnership with the South Wales Chamber of Commerce and are delighted to be supporting them again this year. The Welsh Business Awards are a real opportunity for us to celebrate and applaud the achievements of the talented businesses in our region.

“The University works with businesses in the region to help them reach their full potential, not only by providing talented, work-ready graduates but by providing continuing development opportunities for people in employment and access to expertise & technical facilities through our USW Exchange engagement hubs.

Sponsoring the awards is important to the University, helping us to build relationships with organisations working hard to grow, and we look forward to sharing in their celebrations again this year.”

At last year’s award ceremony, the night’s biggest winner was CellPath Ltd who won the Success Through Overseas Trade category, before being named Welsh Business of the Year, at the ceremony, which was hosted by Welsh presenter Gethin Jones.

On their impressive win at last years’ awards, Dr Neil Haine from CellPath Ltd said: “We’re very proud to be recognised at the Welsh Business Awards and be named Welsh Business of the Year. It showcases the hard work our innovative team puts in daily.”

“Over the last three years, we have made it our mission to make our mark on the international market and to increase exports and growth. We’re export-focused and winning not only Welsh Business of the Year but also the Success Through Overseas Trade highlights this dedication.”
