Five Welsh chefs will join fellow invited guests at a Buckingham Palace garden party on May 22 for The Prince of Wales’ 70th Birthday Patronage Celebration.

Prince Charles is the longstanding patron of the Culinary Team of Wales, part of the Culinary Association of Wales. The association will be represented at the garden party by president Arwyn Watkins, vice president Colin Gray, treasurer Toby Beevers, Culinary Team of Wales captain Danny Burke and Junior Culinary Team coach Michael Evans.

Mr Watkins is managing director of Welshpool-based Cambrian Training Company, Mr Gray is managing director of Caerphilly-based Capital Cuisine, Mr Beevers works for of PSL Purchasing Systems, Mr Burke is co-owner of Olive Tree Catering, Hawarden and Mr Evans is a lecturer at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, Rhos-on-Sea.

“The Culinary Team of Wales is proud to have HRH The Prince of Wales as our patron and we were delighted when we received the invitation to send five members to the garden party,” said Mr Watkins. “It’s a great honour to represent the team and we are all looking forward to the event.”

In March this year, Mr Watkins attended an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace with his family when he received an OBE from Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, for services to education and training in Wales.
