Better Cardiff has announced a major refurbishment of the changing facilities at Fairwater Leisure Centre.

Work will commence on Monday 3rd February and will include:

    • Complete redecoration of changing rooms
    • A new shower system
    • Brand new hair dryers
    • New drinking water fountains

Dawn Pinder, Partnership Manager for GLL in Cardiff, explains:

“ We’ve listened to customer feedback about the standard of the changing facilities at Better Fairwater Leisure Centre and will be investing £188,000 in a refurbishment programme. We anticipate work to take around ten to twelve weeks and temporary arrangemnets will be set up. To ensure as little impact to our customers as possible, we will be completing the work in two phases. More information on the temporary arrangements is available on the better.org website”

Customers should note that Swim School will not be impacted at all and the normal lesson timetable will continue throughout the changing room works.

Cardiff Council Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, Cllr Peter Bradbury said:

“Once these refurbishments are complete it will mean that since the start of last year, over £600,000 has been invested in transforming the facilities at Fairwater. That level of investment is great news for the local residents and groups who frequent this well-used facility at the heart of the community and really demonstrates the impact our partnership with GLL is having on leisure provision in Cardiff.”

The latest investment at Fairwater’ follows major improvements in the past year which saw£450,000 invested in the gym and studio spaces to provide a modern and dynamic facility.
