Overnight resurfacing work on Malpas Road in Newport is due to continue next week, with overnight closures from Monday 5 to Friday 9 October.

Closures will be in place from 8pm to 5am. Emergency and pedestrian access will not be affected, Newport City Council said.

On Monday and Tuesday, the western half of junction 26 roundabout (Malpas Road northbound) will be closed.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the western half of the roundabout (Malpas Road southbound) will be closed.

On Friday, Malpas Road will be closed southbound between Pillmawr Road lights and the junction 26 roundabout.

Bus services using the route will be affected. The council asked people to check with their provider for details about changes to services.

The works are likely to generate noise and dust. The council said this is unavoidable but that it will make every effort to minimise this as much as possible.
