The family of a man killed in an early morning collision in Barry have paid tribute to the “heart and soul of his family”.

Motorcyclist Grant Kerton died following a single-vehicle collision on the Barry Docks Link Road shortly after 4am yesterday (Monday, February 3).

The 33-year-old, fondly known to family and friends as Pants, leaves behind his beloved 10-year-old son Liam, sisters Becky and Louise, parents Karen and Martyn, and step-parents Gethin and Jude.

Paying tribute to Grant, his family said: “Grant, or Pants as everyone knew him,  was full of life and everyone loved him.

“He was always the heart and soul to his family and friends, always smiling and joking around.

“He was kind and generous to all and would do anything for anybody.

“Grant adored his son Liam and he worked really hard to ensure they could have as many good times together as possible.

“He loved spending time with Liam, walking his dog Thor and, as an experienced motorcyclist, he loved being out on his bike.

“Grant always lived life to the full, and was always with a smile on his face ready to make everyone laugh. As a family, we will cherish all the great times we shared with him.

“We are absolutely devastated and heartbroken by Grant’s death and we ask that we be left in peace to grieve and begin to come to terms with our loss.”

South Wales Police is continuing to investigate the collision and anyone with information who has yet to speak to police is urged to contact 101, quoting occurrence 2000040814.

Two men, aged 26 and 35, who were arrested at the scene of the collision have since been released under investigation.
