A local dog rescue is appealing for help from the public after suffering terrible flood damage to their Pontypridd charity shop.
Llanharan based Hope Rescue helps vulnerable dogs in need from across South Wales but is facing a huge loss of funds after the flooding from Storm Dennis caused their only charity shop in Pontypridd to fill with contaminated water.
Not only will repairs include replacing fixtures, fittings and stock damaged by the flood water, but the shop also needs specialist deep cleaning and drying out before any work can take place.
The shop will need to close for several months, with the charity losing out on an estimated monthly income of £9,000, that they desperately need to support the dogs in their care.
Amy Greenfield, Hope Rescue’s Fundraising Manager, said: “Our staff and volunteers take great pride in our charity shop, and do an amazing job of raising funds for our rescue centre.
“Without these vital funds, the dogs in our care may not be able to receive the care they need, and we may even be faced with turning dogs away.
“We’re asking the public to get involved in any way they can to help us ensure we have the resources to continue to meet the needs of our dogs while work is underway to get the shop up and running again.
“From donating directly to our appeal, to organising a bake sale or purchasing a gift from our online shop, any contributions big or small will help make a difference.
“Thank you to everyone so far for their donations and kind words, we have been overwhelmed by the public’s generosity and it really is appreciated by us all.”
When the shop repairs near completion, the charity will be looking for volunteers and donations to help re-stock the shop, and will make an announcement over the coming weeks.
