    On Sunday 10th of June, women and girls in Cardiff walked together as part a mass participation artwork to celebrate one hundred years of votes for women.

    The PROCESSIONS march took place in Cardiff at the same time as women in London, Belfast and Edinburgh took to the streets to mark one hundred years since the Representation of the People Act was passed – which gave some women the right to vote.

    Keep Wales Tidy volunteers took part in the procession and organised a huge litter-pick ensuring any litter dropped during or after the walk is picked up. Volunteers of all ages from across Wales took part in the event and wore scarves in the colours of the suffragette movement, green, white or violet. The colourful PROCESSION started from Cardiff City Stadium and finished at Bute Park in Cardiff City centre.

    Louise Tambini of Keep Wales Tidy said;

    “We are delighted to be part of this fantastic Procession Event celebrating one hundred years of women’s votes. Being the environmental charity that we are, we wanted to make a positive contribution in the best way we can by providing litter picking volunteers to collect any rubbish left behind the march.”
