    Cardiff Bus run altered May Bank Holiday timetables as drivers mark VE Day

    Cardiff Bus drivers are set to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day on Friday as services run on altered timetables for the early May Bank Holiday.

    Drivers will pull over, where safe to do so, at 11am on May 8th to observe a two minute silence to honour the service and sacrifice of the Second World War generation, 75 years on from VE Day.

    During the day, services will run on a special Sunday timetables with passengers reminded to follow Government advice and only make essential journeys.

    Operations and Commercial Director Gareth Stevens said: “We will be running a Sunday timetable across our services this Friday due to the early May Bank Holiday.

    “Customers who are planning to travel for essential reasons, are advised to check their journey information either on our website, or social media channels in advance to ensure they are up to date.

    “Our drivers will also be paying their respects to veterans at 11am on the day, and pulling over toobserve two minute’s silence where safe to do so.

    “We’d like to remind all our passengers of the current Government advice surrounding travel, and to only make essential journeys where necessary.

    “We’d like to thank our passengers for their continued support of Cardiff Bus during this challenging time.”

    Cardiff Bus’s customer service centres on Sloper Road and Westgate Street are closed, customers are reminded that tickets can be purchased on the app and timetable and route information is available on the app and website.
