Merthyr retail park announces new safety measures for reopening

Cyfarthfa Retail Park, which is owned and managed by Hammerson, has announced a range of new safety measures that it will introduce when the Park reopens.

    The new safety measures include:

    • Clear signage throughout the retail park reminding consumers of the need to follow social distancing guidance, and to avoid shopping in large groups
    • Enhanced cleaning processes, with a clear focus on key customer touch points
    • Clear graphics for queues outside of stores
    • All customer-facing colleagues to wear protective clothing when in internal areas

The Welsh Government has not yet confirmed when non-essential retail stores can reopen, but it is expected to be in the second half of June. An opening date for the retail park will be confirmed once this is announced. Selected restaurant brands will continue to be available for takeaway and delivery, with further guidance expected from the Government in the coming weeks on when these venues can reopen for dine-in customers, and when leisure operators can re-open.

The car park will be available for use but customers are advised to check Cyfarthfa Retail Park’s website before they visit, as some services may not be available.

Andrew Berger-North, Director of Retail Parks at Hammerson said: “It has been a really challenging time for everyone, and we are hugely grateful to the key workers that have done so much over the past few months. At Cyfarthfa Retail Park we’re working really hard to make sure we can re-open as soon as possible, and that we can do so safely. We ask that people be patient with us though, as the way we shop is going to be different for a while, and visits might take longer than usual. We can’t wait to re-open, and to welcome back our customers.”
