Fundraisers from Pembrey and Burry Port are gearing up to take part in Kidney Wales’ annual Walk for Life on Sunday 24th June.

Organised by Pembrey and Burry Port County Council, the walk has long been a mainstay of the community’s fundraising calendar.

This year’s walk is set to begin at 10am – with participants advised to arrive in plenty of time for registration, which begins at 9:15am.

Starting at Burry Port Harbour, participants will take a circular route to the Pwll Pavilion before heading back along the coastal path.

Ahead of the event, Ed Davies, one of the lead organisers, said:

“Councillors and staff have worked together to participate in this year’s fundraiser.

“The walk is mostly flat and well paved, with a handy refreshment stop for those that need it at the half way mark! The walk will be at an easy pace and for those who can’t take part, your support at the start and end will be much appreciated.

“We feel this is a really important cause to support because kidney disease and problems affect many in our communities and anything that can be done to help them is worthwhile.”

Funds raised at events such as the Pembrey and Burry Port Walk for Life are vital for Kidney Wales to continue its work in funding new services, equipment and facilities, as well as develop innovative programmes in renal research and other important programmes.

You can still get involved with this event by coming along and registering your details with the Walk organisers at Burry Port Harbour at 9.15am on Sunday 24th.
