Caerphilly libraries launch ‘Order and Collect’ service

Libraries in the Caerphilly county borough are offering a new ‘Order and Collect’ service to residents.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has announced the launch of the new initiative as part of its plans for the phased reopening of library services.

From Monday 24th August, residents can request items of stock which they can collect at a convenient time from one of seven libraries operating the scheme.

Since July the library service has been providing a LibraryLink Home Delivery service to eligible residents, including those shielding and those over the age of 70 who are unable to access to digital library services. The council are still accepting applications for this service.

A wealth of free eServices are also available 24/7 all year round for residents to access, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, eComics and eGraphic novels which can be downloaded to a compatible device.

Cllr Barbara Jones, the council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Achievement, said “We understand how important libraries are to our local communities, but the safety of staff and residents remains of paramount importance to us.  This new service will not only protect the safety of staff and visitors, by restricting visitor numbers and the time spent at library buildings, but will also make it much quicker and easier for people to borrow books.”

All the information you need to know about the new service can be found at www.caerphilly.gov.uk/Services/Libraries/Order-and-collect; including how you order and return items, arranging your collection times and, most importantly, information on the safety measures in place for our residents and library staff.
