Motorists across South Wales are facing a difficult start to Wednesday morning, with accidents and congestion causing delays on several key routes.

Traffic Wales has reported a serious incident on the A55 eastbound between junction 33A Northop and junction 34 at the Ewloe Loop, where an accident is leading to long delays for drivers heading towards Chester.

Closer to Cardiff, congestion is building on a number of commuter routes. The A4232 northbound between the A48 interchange and the M4 junction 33 at Capel Llanilltern is seeing slow-moving traffic, with delays expected during peak travel times.

The A470 southbound between Nantgarw and Coryton is also experiencing congestion, a common pressure point for commuters heading into the capital.

On the M4, drivers travelling eastbound are being warned of delays between junction 27 at High Cross and junction 23A at Magor. Additional congestion has also been reported on the eastbound off-slip at junction 33, Capel Llanilltern.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and check traffic updates before setting off, particularly during the busy morning rush hour.
