A new local testing site (LTSs) opened in Newport on Saturday 23 January as part of the government’s drive to improve access to Covid-19 tests.

Pill residents will be able to book a test at the LTS in the car park of the former Kwik Save at 169 Commercial Road.

From Monday, it will operate from 8am to 8pm. The testing site serves the local community so those attending can walk to it and do not have to drive to get a test.

If you have any symptoms of Coronavirus (Covid-19) – a new continuous cough, high temperature or loss of taste and/or smell please book a test as soon as possible.

    Call 119 or visit  www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

If you have symptoms, you and any household members should isolate immediately. Your whole household should continue to isolate until the test result is received. If the test is positive, all household members and close contacts should continue to  isolate for 10 days as per current guidance.

Even if you receive a negative result, Wales is now at  alert level 4 with stay-at-home restrictions in place.

Newport City Council has worked closely with Aneurin Bevan Health Board, NHS Wales and Welsh Government to identify sites that support easier access for residents.
