Learning Pembrokeshire, the County Council Adult Community Learning team, has held its annual award ceremony to congratulate adult learners on their exam success and progress on their learning journeys this year.
The event on Wednesday 9th July, was kindly hosted by Pembrokeshire College, co-members of the adult learning partnership.
Besides staff and learners, the event was attended by Cllr Maureen Bowen, County Council Chairman and Steve Davis, Chief Office for Youth and Community Education, as well as a number of organisations that work in partnership with Learning Pembrokeshire.
These included PAVS, Bluestone, Open University, Trinity College. Pembrokeshire College, Futureworks and Support for Employment. These organisations offer progression routes for the learners who wish to take a next step on their learning journey.
A local police officer also attended to meet and chat with members of the diverse community.
Master of Ceremonies for the morning was Tomos Hopkins, from the Learning Pembrokeshire Welsh for Adults team.
Vilni, the Ukrainian Choir, provided the music, and everybody enjoyed listening to songs from their homeland.
Learners had all attended accredited classes in Digital Skills, Essential Skills, GCSE and English as a Speaker of Other Language. Cllr Bowen presented certificates to learners from the Essential Skills and ESOL classes.
The morning was dedicated to celebrating the progress on their lifelong learning journey. Many of them contributed to the event by sharing their ‘light bulb’ moments whilst in class.
The range of qualifications attained included Agored Cymru Units and Awards, Essential Skills Wales Level 1 and level 2, BCS ICDL and WJEC GCSE.
Laura Phiilips from Springboard+ also celebrated how learners on the project had achieved over 400 qualifications during their UK SPF funded period of delivery which had enabled a significant number of learners progress onto volunteering, further learning and employment.
Through learning, people have the capacity to springboard onto so many different avenues; so being at Pembrokeshire College was very fitting as so many vocational avenues can be taken up by adults wanting to progress via Pembrokeshire college.
