Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale have now moved their Llantwit Major office to join Glamorgan Voluntary Service (GVS) at Illtud House on Station Road – situated in the same area as St Illtud Primary School in the CF61 postcode area.

Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale have been delivering services to older people in the Western Vale for 30 years. An office was first opened in 1996 close to the original post office opposite the old school in Wine Street, Llantwit Major.

Teresa Power, Manager at Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale said:

“This exciting move was made possible through the Welsh Government grant for Loneliness and Isolation and the Vale Local Authority Age Friendly grant. We are delighted to work in proximity with GVS. We have worked in partnership with them over many years and see the tangible effects of working in partnership for the benefit of the community”.

“We hope that by sharing a space with other community organisations, we will be able to spread the word on what we can offer.

“Whilst we are unable to staff the office every day as we only have a small staff resource, those staff are totally committed to delivering services in the community, especially to those who have difficulty getting out and about. It is therefore highly recommended that anyone wishing to access those services phone to speak to one of our team or book an appointment either at the office or in the comfort of their own home.

“We are also delighted to announce that Stevie Jones – Volunteer Development Officer has recently joined us there and would encourage anyone wanting to volunteer to support older people in our community to give her a call”.

Married with two children and a cat called Toby, Stevie has been qualified as a nurse since 2014, with a strong interest in community nursing.

Stevie says: “Keeping older people at home is a passion of mine and something which I feel very proud to have been a part of. With Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale, I can continue to ensure the older people of our community are able to access support that will improve their quality of life and tackle loneliness.”
