Terry Rosoman, from South Wales is attempting to create the World’s Largest GPS Manhood (on foot) to raise money for men’s health charity, Movember On November 1, the 39-year-old will set off from Abergavenny train station and run 75 miles across the challenging Brecon Beacons to create his “Movember Manhood Masterpiece” on GPS. Hundreds of school pupils have been given the chance to sample the exciting world of science. Almost 200 primary school children from across South Wales have been given a taster of the world of science at the University of South Wales (USW). During the STEM Outreach Conference held at the University’s Treforest Campus, the pupils heard all about artificial intelligence, civil engineering, 3D printing, microbit programming, volcanoes, the use of virtual reality, and digital forensics. Students attended an alcohol-free drink and draw event as part of a campaign launch to promote a better variety of alternatives in Cardiff. Trends show that the younger generation are drinking less alcohol, with 39% of 18 to 24-year-olds not drinking alcohol at all according to a survey by the Portman Group. The Welsh Ambulance Service has appointed its first Head of Charity. David Hopkins, from Cardiff, joins the service from National Youth Arts Wales, where he was Fundraising and Development Manager. David will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Trust’s charity, including the generation of income and compliance with its regulatory and governance obligations. Businesses in Wales have revealed the opportunities and challenges they faced in Q3 of 2024 in Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid’s latest Quarterly Economic Survey. Businesses in Wales who trade goods and services domestically performed well. Over two thirds (68%) of businesses taking part in the survey traded in the UK only. 38% of these businesses stated that there had been an increase in UK sales and 33% reported an increase in orders and advanced bookings, with both of these figures up from Q2.
