Cardiff’s five-star hotel, voco St David’s, is giving an emerging contemporary artist the chance to showcase their work to guests and the community. The Cardiff Bay-based hotel is displaying a new private collection of work from contemporary Welsh artist Caitlin Flood-Molyneux in its restaurant and bar, Tir a Môr. 2wish, the charity which offers support to families affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under, has opened a bereavement room on the children’s ward at Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil. A pioneering start-up company aims to beat the scourge of plastic pollution of the oceans with its ground-breaking range of packaging made from seaweed. PlantSea is based at Optic Technology Centre in St Asaph and was founded in 2020 by three friends at Aberystwyth University who discovered that seaweed washed up on the beaches of West Wales could be turned into a range of biodegradable materials. CARING learners supported communities in South East Asia on a “very emotional” education adventure. Twenty students from Coleg Cambria experienced the trip of a lifetime to Cambodia, where they taught English skills to children at a Supplementary Education Centre. The group – from Media, and Health and Social Care courses – also delivered five hours of workshops on ICT and media skills to 75 secondary school students at a partner institution with Khmer New Generation Organization (KNGO).
