A grade II west Wales listed mansion with historic links stretching back to the Afghan War of the nineteenth century is being offered for sale at auction with a guide price of just £50,000. One of the previous owners of sprawling Job’s Well House, which has its roots in the mid eighteenth century, was Carmarthen-born Victorian military hero William Nott famous for his exploits at the defence of Kandahar in the first Afghan War (1838-42). More than 80 people living in Kilgetty have had a boost to the sustainability of their homes thanks to the completion of Welsh housing association, ateb’s first optimised retrofit programme. 25 properties in Park Avenue in Kilgetty, Pembrokeshire have benefitted from a range of improvements that are designed to drive decarbonisation and improve the living environment. A campaign group is calling on artists to submit their masterpieces to an independence-inspired competition. YesCymru, which is campaigning for an independent Wales, is encouraging submissions from artistic talent in the area for the Art of Independence. The competition and exhibition, which is being organised by the YesCymru Penybont ar Ogwr branch will be held at the Queen Street Art Gallery, in Neath. An Aberystwyth academic is leading an international team to explore the position of the Amazon Rainforest in climate politics and its place in the academic study of international relations. In November 2025, the Amazonian city of Belém do Pará in Brazil will host the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP30).
