Ever since our first taste of glamping, we’ve been looking to fill the void in our own at-home garden adventures. Over the years we have bought children’s pop up tents from IKEA and in fairness, they have lasted many years and provide lots of fun. They are easy to setup and not all too expensive. However, none of them have quite been able to re-capture that true sense of adventure. That retro outdoors trend is all the rage at the moment. Whether it’s an at-home tiki bar (we don’t have one before you ask), or fairly lights or bunting, it’s…

Last year, the Honest Burgers restaurant arrived in Cardiff, opening its doors to the public on Church Street. Like many other businesses, they’ve been running a limited collection and delivery menu during lockdown, allowing you to get your hands on your favourite burgers. If you’ve not heard of Honest Burgers before now, then where have you been? Known for their Great British burgers, which they make in their own butchery, each restaurant brings with it its own special something. Cardiff for example, has its own special burger with a combination of Honest beef, candied bacon, Hafod organic cheddar, Cwtch leeks,…
In today’s digital age, our email address acts as our key to many online digital services, whether you’re looking to stream something on Netflix, sign into a digital wallet such as Paypal or use it to access your personal information on Facebook. You may be guilty of this too, how often do you hear about a big brand hack and think nothing of it unless you receive an email from the provider? You often receive an email to say that your account ‘may’ have been compromised in a data breach, but they don’t tell you if you’ve definitely been affected.…
If there is one positive to come out of being in lockdown, it is the fact that I’m saving hundreds of pounds per month – but it comes at a price. As devasting as coronavirus has been on the world, the truth of the matter is that it has helped me to get my finances in order and to get me back on track. No amount of money or savings will offset the devastating impact that it has had on people in terms of self-sacrifices and paying the ultimate cost, life. However, I feel it’s important to share a slightly…
With so many food and drink festivals in Wales cancelled or postponed this year already, it’s becoming almost impossible to get your hands on much-loved local food produce. Although most Welsh producers have kickstarted their own deliveries, you don’t know, what you don’t know. We love attending the Cowbridge Food & Drink Festival, the Gower Festival and of course the Welsh Perry and Cider Festival, but all have been cancelled for 2020. Let’s hope the Cardiff International Food Festival, Llangollen and the renowned Abergavenny Food Festival go ahead? So, when we heard about the launch of the Discover Delicious Wales website,…
As lockdown social distancing measures look set to continue for some time, how long can you go without your favourite foods? Luckily, many restaurants are coming up with new and inventive ways to overcome this. Some have turned to delivery services and collections, while others have come up with a third option. For example, in addition to offering a takeaway service, award-winning Cardiff pizzeria Dusty Knuckle is offering a DIY at-home option. In our household, we’re massive pizza lovers, especially of the wood fired and stone baked variety. So, when we heard Phill and Deb Lewis of Dusty Knuckle were…
Let’s face it, there are thousands of films, short videos and TV series’ that we can stream online, but perhaps there is too much choice? In our household, we can easily spent 20 minutes (sometimes more) on searching and scrolling through tons of content before finally settling on one of the first films we looked up. I imagine we won’t be the only ones out there! To make things easier and just for a bit of fun, I’ve created a quick quiz to help the next film to watch as a family. I’ve gone through and looked up some of…
Last week, Disney launched their brand new Disney Plus app with hundreds of on-demand video streams. With the UK in lockdown due to coronavirus, the country is turning to video streaming services such as Disney Plus, Netflix and Prime Video to keep entertained through this difficult time. Disney Plus is currently free in the UK with a 7-day trial, followed by £5.99 a month or £59.99 a year. The new app comes with top productions from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic, allowing you to watch what you want, when you want. Although it may seem like another…
With schools across Wales and the UK closed until further notice due to the ongoing pandemic, a host of celebrities and organisations have launched free online resources. As a parent, I think we were all shocked by the sudden closure of schools, but fully understand the need to protect our children and other people from the spread of coronavirus. There is an unprecedented sense of community spirit and the teachers at my daughter’s school have been absolutely fantastic. I have no idea what must have been going through their minds in the final days of school. At home, we absolutely…
If you’re a Cardiff resident, you will have certainly heard of Techniquest and will have most likely visited the science centre in Cardiff Bay. There has also been a lot in the news recently about the expansion and major refresh of the centre. The project has been four years in planning and will reopen in a few months’ time – and from what we’ve seen and heard, we can’t wait! I remember visiting Techniquest in its previous location, located just across the road from where it is today. I can also remember visiting countless times since the current centre opened…
