With so many food and drink festivals in Wales cancelled or postponed this year already, it’s becoming almost impossible to get your hands on much-loved local food produce.

Although most Welsh producers have kickstarted their own deliveries, you don’t know, what you don’t know. We love attending the Cowbridge Food & Drink Festival, the Gower Festival and of course the Welsh Perry and Cider Festival, but all have been cancelled for 2020. Let’s hope the Cardiff International Food Festival, Llangollen and the renowned Abergavenny Food Festival go ahead?

So, when we heard about the launch of the Discover Delicious Wales website, we had to give it a try.

Of course a website doesn’t replicate the atmosphere of a festival, but it does allow you to browse and buy from a range of local goods from across all four corners of Wales. You can’t go and order your favourite Welsh cider or cheese, if you don’t know the name of it, can you?

As someone that enjoys a food festival to discover new items, the website fills that void and then some, allowing you to enjoy them at home.

    What is Discover Delicious Wales?

DiscoverDelicious.Wales – based in Aberystwyth – curates and celebrates the best food & drink products and experiences available throughout Wales. It gives independent Welsh brands a way to market themselves and sell directly to customers all over the UK, by creating a one-stop-shop for some of the tastiest, independently made products from across Wales.

    What can you order?

Some of the items we discovered we in the Food Hall range

The marketplace is currently home to over 70 producers collectively offering more than 1,500 deliciously different food and drink products; these range from craft gins and beers to premium meat boxes, artisan cheese selections and handmade Welsh cakes.

    How does it work?

Discover Delicious Wales – order your favourite Welsh food and drinks online.

Ordering is really simple, it works like any other online shop. Simply browse the website to discover new items, before adding them to your basket to purchase.

In April, Discover Delicious signed a distribution deal with Blas ar Fwyd to offer a consolidated delivery service for store cupboard items and fresh produce essentials – all sourced directly from small businesses in Wales. Food items eligible for this are available in the new ‘Food Hall‘ section of the website.

From ordering, we received our delivery within a couple of days. The entire process was really easy.

    How much is delivery?

Delivery costs vary by individual vendors, depending on the size and number of items. However, orders from the Food Hall part of the site will arrive in one delivery at a cost of £12 per delivery, (with free delivery for orders over £45).

Give it a try yourself and let us know what you discover – https://discoverdelicious.wales/
