Dwr Cymru Welsh Water have submitted new proposals for a water treatment works at Merthyr Tydfil. Following a consultation with the local community the previous plan to develop a site at Gurnos Farm is no longer being considered. The new proposals are for a smaller treatment works at Dan-y-Castell Farm next to Pant Industrial Estate and upgrading the Llwyn-onn Treatment Works. The plans have been revised in response to community feedback and to reduce environmental impact and cost. The total value of announced equity deals in Wales increased by 23% in 2023 compared to the previous year, however the number of deals fell by 8% for the same period.
