South Wales Police were called just before 9.10am this morning with a report that a 29-year-old woman had been stabbed on Moy Road, Aberfan, Merthyr. The suspect left the scene immediately. At 3.50pm this afternoon a 28-year-old man from Merthyr, who is known to the victim, was arrested in the Merthyr area on suspicion of attempt murder and is currently in police custody. The Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm community fund has invested almost £122k to kick start a project aimed to educate, build skills, and empower children and young people across the Afan Valley. Bodnant Garden, a National Trust Cymru garden in North Wales, is joining together with Forestry England to plant critically endangered Wollemi pine trees as part of the first global ‘metacollection’ to save the iconic species from extinction and help protect the biodiversity of wild trees.
