The first event of the year, Ystrad Mynach Spring Fair, took place on Saturday 23rd March 2024. Ystrad Mynach Town Centre saw an amazing 5,623 visitors on the day, with peak attendance being 995 at 12pm. This has been the busiest day of the year for the town so far, with there being 4,493 more visitors compared to the previous Saturday. Footfall was also higher than the last event that took place in Ystrad Mynach at Christmas. The motorcyclist who died following a road traffic collision which happened on March 30, on the B4265 between Cardiff Airport and Llantwit Major has been named. He is Barrie Taylor, 51, from Bridgend.  Mr Taylor died at the scene of the collision despite the best efforts of members of public and paramedics in attendance.. Mr Taylor’s family wish to thank those for their efforts at scene. A 28-year-old man has been sent to prison for almost three years after assaulting two different partners in the space of a few months. On Thursday, March 28, Lewis Symons from Caerau, Ely, in Cardiff, was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court to 33 months in prison. Following sentencing, Police Constable Ajmal Abdoolla said: “These were very distressing experiences for both victims. Thanks to a successful campaign to attract volunteers to run the St Davids’ library on Saturday mornings, the facility will be open for the local community to enjoy. Customers will be able to use the library’s facilities between 10am and 12pm each Saturday from April 6th 2024. Last week, Ffald Lane in Pyle was the focus of a community clean up in a bid to clear the area of dumped waste and create a more pleasant area for residents.
