A man who was found working on a cannabis factory at a Swansea address has been sentenced to eight months in prison. 44-year-old Dan Dang was discovered during a search warrant at an address on Townhill Road, Mayhill, on 21st December 2023. 166 cannabis plants were discovered during the warrant, with an estimated street value of up to £72,800. Over £9,500 in cash was also seized, alongside bank cards, three mobile phones and two gold bars. He is now due to be deported after having entered the UK illegally.

Bridgend County Borough Council’s Cabinet has approved that the council can move forward with negotiations with supermarket chains, Aldi and ASDA, as well as Network Rail, for the planned demolition of Brackla One multi storey car park in Bridgend town centre – a move which brings the development of the new Bridgend College campus a step closer. The newly-replaced Tynybryn Footbridge in Tonyrefail will reopen to members of the public on Friday (January 26) following good progress with the scheme – to re-establish a popular local link within the community. The footbridge provides a path across the river, supporting a walking and cycling route between Tynybryn Road and the A4119 underpass. The old bridge was demolished last year, and replaced with an active travel-compliant alternative in November 2023 – which also has an improved alignment.
