Almost £11 million in Shared Prosperity Fund (Levelling Up) grants has been awarded to 66 projects that will benefit Powys over the last 12 months. Powys Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) Local Partnership Board has been reviewing and approving a range of bids since February 2023, following four open calls for applications. A reminder is going out to businesses in the retail, leisure and hospitality sectors in Pembrokeshire to apply for rate relief. Welsh Government announced the retail, leisure and hospitality rates relief scheme in Wales for 2023/24. Properties that can benefit include shops, pubs and restaurants, gyms, performance venues and hotels. Relief will be granted to eligible businesses as a reduction to the rates bill based on occupation between 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024. “Tackling child poverty is at the heart of everything we do,” Minister for Social Justice and Chief Whip Jane Hutt has vowed. A pilot project funded by the Welsh Government to trial and assess how closer working between farmers and vets can improve animal health and improve a farm’s productivity is underway. The project will be testing a key proposed element of the Sustainable Farming Scheme, which is the Animal Health Improvement Cycle (AHIC). As part of the project a small group of farm animal vets will deliver regular preventative medicine veterinary visits to achieve improvements in the health and productivity of livestock on farms.
