RCT Council has been advised that the first abnormal load movement near Llwydcoed and Hirwaun has been rearranged to take place on Saturday, January 20. Plant for an electrical power station is being transported by a specialist haulage company from the County Borough’s northern boundary with Merthyr Tydfil, to Hirwaun. This will now take place across three day-time journeys on consecutive Saturdays – January 27 and February 3. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated. Green spaces in the Caerphilly borough will continue to flourish this year, after its Cabinet agreed grass cutting regimes which promote biodiversity. Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet members agreed to continue keeping mowing to a minimum on highway verges and bypass routes, in accordance with Traffic Wales guidance. Visibility splays and sight lines on highways, margins and access on footways/cycle routes, sports grounds, urban areas such as housing estates, municipal parks, older person accommodation, cemeteries, play/recreational public open spaces, will be maintained at the current cutting frequencies. Blackwood-based Smugglers Livery and Equestrian Centre is being powered by green energy following a £35,000 green loan from the Development Bank of Wales. Established in 2013 by Melissa Burles, who previously ran Gelligoediog Riding School, Smugglers is a BHS and Pony Club approved Centre. It has a riding school, indoor arena, two outdoor floodlit menages, cafe and tack shop. 16 staff are employed to take care of the 35 horses and deliver livery services, riding lessons, pony parties, shows and clinics. The Welsh housing market is expected to considerably outperform the rest of the UK over the next five years, according to research by Savills. The analysis also shows that while the market remains relatively weak, the outlook is improving.
