Some energy suppliers are using rocketing standing charges as a way to inflate bills for small firms, according to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). In its response to Ofgem’s recent consultation on the standing charges system, FSB flagged fresh complaints from members of staggering rises – up to 12-fold increases – in the fixed fee set by energy suppliers regardless of energy usage. South Wales Police is continuing to investigate a serious sexual assault in Cardiff city centre which occurred one month ago this weekend. They are now appealing for the public’s help in identifying four possible witnesses seen here on CCTV. Businesses and workers whose jobs and livelihoods have been affected by the recent fire which destroyed a large warehouse and damaged several neighbouring premises on Bridgend Industrial Estate are receiving a range of support from Bridgend County Borough Council. A total of 42 businesses were affected by the blaze, which destroyed and damaged some premises and affected the power supply to others.
