Caerphilly County Borough Council is urging owners of empty homes, who wish to live in their property, to apply for a grant to help with renovations. Through the Welsh Government National Empty Home Grant Programme, grants of up to £25,000 are available to renovate empty properties to make them safe to live in and improve their energy efficiency. The grant is available for owner occupiers to renovate homes that have been empty for at least 12 months. Powys County Council have provisionally secured over £17.7 million of Levelling Up Funding from UK Government to promote recreational tourism in the county through transport investment. The funding aims to address regional disparities across the UK by investing in vital local infrastructure projects to increase pride in place and bring people closer to opportunity. An autograph letter by famous 18th century Welsh naturalist, traveller and writer Thomas Pennant sold for £800 at a leading Shropshire fine art auction house last week. Sent from his home at Downing Hall, near Whitford, Flintshire on September 22, 1767, the letter sold to a Welsh buyer at Halls Fine Art’s books, coins and stamps auction in Shrewsbury.
