The popular Spooks in the City event makes a welcome return on Saturday, October 28. This free annual event forms part of Swansea Council’s ongoing efforts, wherever possible, to offer families high quality fun days which are either free or low cost. Some of the brightest young minds in Cardiff have set to work developing solutions to the challenge of creating a carbon neutral Council. The latest figures, for 2020/21 showed a 13% reduction in Cardiff Council’s carbon emissions compared to the previous year as work progressed on the local authority’s One Planet Cardiff strategy in response to the climate emergency. Bridgend County Borough Council has provided an update on its latest efforts to support traders following the temporary closure of Bridgend Indoor Market. The market was recently forced to close its doors in the interests of public safety after an inspection by a Welsh Government approved specialist confirmed that there was a potential issue with Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) in parts of the market hall roof. The council provided alternative storage facilities, including an industrial fridge and freezer, and stall holders received immediate support with itemising and relocating their existing stock. The by-election is taking place to fill one vacancy following the resignation of Anita Cartwright earlier this month (October).
