A Caerphilly man has been jailed for 16 weeks after persecuting badgers in  “deliberate and sadistic” acts where mammals were filmed being stabbed, kicked and attacked by dogs. Lloyd Gary Robert Davies was also banned from keeping all animals for life. Newport Magistrates’ Court was told he killed or injured the protected mammals by setting lurchers on them in fights shared on mobile phones. A man from Swansea has been jailed after he pleaded guilty to the rape and sexual assault of a male victim. 41-year-old Johnathan Jones, from Sketty, took his vulnerable victim into a pub toilet cubicle and when the victim tried to push him away, Jones attempted to offer the victim money in order to continue. After the victim reported this to police, Jones was arrested the same day. After initially claiming the sexual activity was consensual, Jones pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, as well as further counts of sexual assault and assault by penetration. An estimated £100K worth of drugs were seized during seven warrants in Bangor and Caernarfon last week. The warrants came after officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team were made aware of local concerns around drugs at residential properties. A quantity of heroin, dried magic mushrooms and cannabis were seized throughout the week totalling an estimated value of over £100,000. A 55-year-old man and a 32-year-old man were both arrested and have since been bailed whilst investigations continue. Pembrokeshire County Council’s Trading Standards team has taken action to ensure counterfeit and potentially unsafe toys are removed from the marketplace. At present a number of counterfeit Labubu dolls and other branded soft toys are awaiting destruction after being removed from sale. A complaint citing serious safety concerns came through to Pembrokeshire County Council’s Public Protection department and led to investigation. These fake toys, which often appear to be bargain alternatives to genuine products, pose significant risks to children.
