Bridgend County Borough Council has been rejuvenating Bridgend Indoor Market with pop-up shops and activities through the PopUp Wales initiative, which is part of the wider Elevate and Prosper (EAP) project – funded by the UK Government’s Community Renewal Fund and the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns Fund. Proposals for a new Active Travel crossing of the river Wye at Monmouth have taken a major step forward. The proposed design for a bridge for pedestrian and cyclists has now been submitted for planning. The project, which is supported by the Welsh Government’s Active Travel Fund, aims to create a new safe route linking Monmouth and Wyesham that avoids the vehicular traffic on the busy Wye Bridge. ‘Active Travel’ describes journeys with a purpose, such as to and from school or a place of work, undertaken by foot or by bicycle. The Football Association of Wales are delighted to confirm Cymru manager Gemma Grainger has signed a two-year contract extension until 2027, taking the team through the qualifying campaigns for UEFA EURO 2025 and FIFA World Cup 2027. Almost a thousand people attended Swansea Grand Theatre’s recent relaxed panto performance of Beauty and the Beast, a virtual sell out. From humble beginnings several years ago when less than 200 people attended, the theatre’s relaxed performances have gone from strength to strength, demonstrating the popularity of this type of accessible show. This year theatre staff were assisted by the Swansea branch of the National Autistic Society who were on hand to support attendees and supply essential equipment, such as ear defenders and fidget toys.
