Cardiff-based digital transformation company Opencentric and the British Council have won gold at the Learning Technologies Awards 2025 in the category ‘Best Use of Blended Learning – Public and Non-Profit Sector’. The award recognises the joint programme ‘Transforming Teaching Through Blended Learning at Scale,’ which has delivered impactful teacher development across education systems in China and Indonesia. A man from Swansea has been sentenced after attacking another man with a metal pole. 21-year-old Lewis Dight, of no fixed abode, carried out the offence on October 19. The attack with the pole caused a gash to the top of the victim’s head. Dight then went to the victim’s address and threw a brick through a window before brandishing a knife. Dight pleaded guilty to affray, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and threatening a person with a blade in a public place. A man from Swansea has been jailed after he was found guilty of the rape of an underage girl. 48-year-old Lukman Oyofo, from the city centre, pleaded not guilty to the offence, with the incident having taken place at his flat on December 6 2024. However, he did admit under interview that he had had sexual intercourse with the victim, insisting that this was consensual. Oyofo was also found guilty of assaulting a female aged 13 and over by penetration. He pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault on a female for offences which took place on November 24…

Drivers using the M4 near the Severn Bridge are being warned to expect delays after Traffic Wales confirmed that lane closures will remain in place until further notice. The closure was first introduced late last night, Monday 8 December, at around 23.20. An update issued in the early hours of this morning said that lanes 1 and 2 on the M4 in both directions will stay shut while further faults uncovered in the roadworks are assessed and repaired. A Cardiff landlord and a letting agent have been ordered to pay a combined total of £41,400 for failing to comply with housing regulations at a property that was rented out in Riverside, Cardiff.District Judge Rhys Williams heard the case against Mohammed Ahad Ali, the freeholder of 85 Tudor Street, and Lukayan Property Rentals Ltd, the appointed agent on December 2nd at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.
