Drivers using the M4 near the Severn Bridge are being warned to expect delays after Traffic Wales confirmed that lane closures will remain in place until further notice.

The closure was first introduced late last night, Monday 8 December, at around 23.20. An update issued in the early hours of this morning said that lanes 1 and 2 on the M4 in both directions will stay shut while further faults uncovered in the roadworks are assessed and repaired.

Traffic Wales has advised that lanes 1 and 2 eastbound will remain closed for the time being, with significant congestion likely around the Severn Crossing. Motorists are urged to allow extra time for their journeys and to plan ahead.

Further updates will be issued as inspection and repair work continues.
