LEADING Cardiff-based fabricator Dudley’s Aluminium has secured three projects in the education sector across the UK. The first build will be St Ederyn’s School in Cardiff. The new home for St Mellons Church in Wales Primary School, St Ederyn’s will provide pupils and staff with a modern, state-of-the-art learning environment when complete. Dudley’s Aluminium will be working with Halsall Construction Ltd on the build and will install Metal Technology System capped curtain walling, ‘Hi’ windows and ‘Hi’ doors, in addition to automatic entrance doors and automatic opening windows. A social worker from Ceredigion has been recognised for Promoting Excellence in Services for Children and Young People during the Wales Care Awards 2022 held in Cardiff. Richard Bellingham, 47 from Llanon, works as a key worker and senior practitioner in the children’s disability team for Ceredigion County Council. Wicked, the West End and Broadway musical phenomenon, has announced a return to Cardiff in 2024 as part of a major 10-city UK and Ireland tour. The spectacular, multi-record-breaking, and critically acclaimed touring production, dubbed “one of the most successful musicals of all time” (BBC News), will fly back to Wales Millennium Centre’s Donald Gordon Theatre for 4 weeks only, from 24 October to 23 November 2024. 250 female pupils from schools across southwest Wales have been offered taster sessions in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects as part of University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Girls into IT programme. The initiative was set up in response to research by the WISE Campaign which highlighted that in 2021, female IT professionals made up only 21% of the UK’s total Technology workforce, and female Engineers only 12.5%, showing the need for additional encouragement of women and girls into these fields. Japan’s UK Ambassador to the UK has visited manufacturing giant Sony UK Technology Centre, on his first visit to the plant in Wales.
