RSPCA Cymru has welcomed moves by Bridgend County Borough Council who have banned the giving of pets as prizes on their land. It means there are now nine councils across Wales who have taken the stand against the outdated practice – following the #NoFunAtTheFair Pets as Prizes campaign, which was re-launched by the RSPCA back in June. Bridgend Council’s decision follows a meeting with the RSPCA, who are urging local authorities across Wales as to the necessity of a ban. Work is set to begin on the installation of public electric vehicle charging points across the county The work will be undertaken over the next few months, with enabling works at Post Office Lane car park, Denbigh and Bowling Green car park, St Asaph, starting the first week of November. THE Welsh Ambulance Service has partnered with a life-saving app that lets first aiders know when there is a cardiac arrest in their area. The GoodSAM app uses GPS technology to alert trained first responders registered on the app to a nearby cardiac arrest. If the responder is available, they can accept the alert via the app and make their way to the patient to begin CPR prior to the arrival of an ambulance. Responders include NHS workers like doctors, nurses, paramedics and therapists, as well as police and fire staff, first aiders and others who are trained in CPR.…

The Cabinet of Bridgend County Borough Council has agreed to move forward with plans to appropriate land in Sandy Bay and Griffin Park needed for the delivery of future regeneration within Porthcawl. Neath Port Talbot Council has announced that it is rolling out free school meals to nearly 3000 primary pupils in years 1 and 2 ahead of schedule. All children in primary years 1 and 2 will now receive Universal Free School Meals from Monday 7th November (after October half-term). The roll-out is a part of the Welsh Government’s commitment for every primary school pupil to receive a free school meal by 2024.
