Cardiff will soon see even more electric buses operating across the city thanks to a £8m grant designed to get cleaner vehicles on our streets. Cardiff Council’s Cabinet at its meeting on Thursday, 20thOctober, has approved a scheme which will allow bus operators to bid for Welsh Government funds to help increase the number of electric buses operating in Cardiff. All bus companies operating in Cardiff could be given the opportunity to bid for the funding. Plans for a new bridge to provide a direct link from Llanrumney to the A48 at the Pentwyn junction have taken a step forward, with permission given from Cardiff Council’s Cabinet to enter into a legal contract with the developer to build the new infrastructure. Insights into local farming life are set to go on show at a special exhibition in Swansea later this month. Work to build a new floodlit all-weather sports pitch in Pontarddulais is set to begin within weeks. Swansea Council’s Cabinet has approved revised funding for the project that will see the sports facility that includes a multi-use games area sited at the town’s comprehensive school. It will be used by pupils during school hours and will be made available to the wider community in the evenings and at weekends. Rhondda Sports Centre’s swimming pool is closed until further notice. The pool has been emptied due to a significant fault in the balance tank. The balance tank is a key part of the pool, providing a constant water supply and keeping the depth the same regardless of how many people use it. Contractors are now working to fix the issue, with the closure set to last at least four weeks. Staff at the centre are working with clubs and groups that use the pool, including children’s swimming lessons, to move the classes and activities to alternative Leisure for Life swimming pools.…
