The Welsh Government is encouraging local authorities to apply for its latest round of Transforming Towns loan funding. The funding, worth £5m, can be used to revitalise town centres by bringing vacant buildings back to life. The scheme, which has already allocated more than £67m since 2014, allows councils to support projects that help generate footfall into town centres and help support local businesses. Race favourite, Geoffrey Koech stormed to win the men’s elite race, finishing just one second outside of the hour mark. Fundraising volunteers have taken to the fairway to help raise vital funds in aid of the children’s charity, NSPCC Cymru/Wales. The popular annual charity golf day, held at Cardiff Golf Club on Friday, September 16, raised around £4,000. The Cardiff Cars team ran out winners at the event, which also included a shotgun start and was followed by a barbecue and prize draw.
