The National Cycle Museum has announced that it will remain open to visitors whilst building restoration work continues at the Automobile Palace, Llandrindod Wells. Located inside the property, which is likely to be covered with scaffolding for several more weeks, the museum is open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10am-4pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm. Aberystwyth hairdresser Nia Gore is organising a tractor run for the Bronglais Chemo Appeal – just days after holding a successful charity coffee morning. The tractor run will set off from Rhydypennau Hall, in Bow Street, at 10am on 9th October and after a 15-mile countryside circuit will return to the hall for refreshments and a charity raffle. The Charge park, the first of its kind in Wales and the second current largest in the UK, is beginning to take shape at West Kinmel Street Car Park. Underground works are complete on the car park site and the main brick built substation which provides the electrical supply to the chargers is almost finished. A stop smoking campaign has been launched to encourage smokers to try quitting in Wales. The Stopioctober campaign has been spearheaded by the tobacco control organisation ASH Cymru, and has been created to mirror similar health drives in England. Each year the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) launches Stoptober, a campaign which encourages thousands of smokers to try quitting in October. The campaign has been running in England since 2012, and has garnered considerable recognition from countries across the UK. In light of this, ASH Cymru have developed a similar drive to signpost stop smoking support available in Wales.…

The RSPCA has revealed the number of guinea pigs coming into its care between January and August has risen by 90 per cent in the last two years*. The heartbreaking statistics are being released as part of Guinea Pig Awareness Week (26 – 30 September) to raise awareness of the suffering faced by hundreds of small furries. In the first eight months of 2020 the charity’s front line officers across England and Wales took in 91 guinea pigs, this rose to 111 in 2021 but already this year 173 have come into RSPCA care – an increase of 90%.
