Fundraising volunteers have taken to the fairway to help raise vital funds in aid of the children’s charity, NSPCC Cymru/Wales. The popular annual charity golf day, held at Cardiff Golf Club on Friday, September 16, raised around £4,000. The Cardiff Cars team ran out winners at the event, which also included a shotgun start and was followed by a barbecue and prize draw. Cancer Aid Merthyr Tydfil is one of 48 community groups across Wales, celebrating a share of more than £680,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in UK. Cancer Aid Merthyr Tydfil, were awarded £10,000 to re-open a daily drop-in centre, offering practical and emotional support to those whose lives have been touched by cancer. Exciting plans to transform a community in the north of Swansea have been revealed today. The Penderi Regeneration Scheme will see a large and long-term investment into the area, four miles from Swansea city centre, with the plans shaped by the community itself. Over 350 households in the area proactively participated in the consultation process. Active and influential community groups and organisations have also given their views and feedback, such as Blaenymaes Drop-in Centre Ty Fforest Hub and Swansea Community Farm.
