Third sector organisations in Neath Port Talbot are being urged not to miss their chance to bid for a share of more than half a million pounds worth of funding. Often referred to as voluntary sector, non-governmental or non-profit organisations, the groups have until Friday 14 October to submit applications for the council’s Third Sector Grant Funding Scheme 2023-24. Newport City Council is again demonstrating its support for Organ Donation Week which takes place this week. NHS organisers are asking everyone to go pink to mark the annual awareness raising campaign. As a Donor City, Newport will show its support for the week by lighting the Civic Centre clock tower in pink from 26 September to 2 October. Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet has this week (26th September) agreed proposals to extend free car parking in its town centres until January 2023. In addition, when parking charges are reintroduced, the initial hourly cost will be reduced to 40p.  New ticketing machines will also be installed in council owned car parks, making it easier for visitors to pay for parking. Surging inflation and rocketing energy costs will have a significant impact on Powys County Council’s financial planning for this and future financial years, the Cabinet has been warned. The first ever Welsh Agriculture Bill has been laid before the Senedd today, paving the way for ambitious and transformational legislation to support farmers, sustainable food production, and to conserve and enhance the Welsh countryside, culture and language, Rural Affairs Minister Lesley Griffiths announced this week.
